Thanksgiving and the Clock Ticking Away

ThanksgivingBefore I go into my usual entry I forgot to mention that when Alina and I were out last weekend, we saw Tara Reid at Lincoln Road. It never gets old when I see celebrities out on Lincoln Road. I'm sure there will be tons of more it happening in Los Angeles!

Thanksgiving was great! We had it at my cousin's house. Iris was very excited that I was bringing some of my friends along. It was monumental for me because this was the first time that I had brought friends over to a family outing. It's almost as if I had two different worlds. My family world and my friend world. It's nice to know that I was able to blend the two and have such a nice time without any stress and anxiety. Thank you lexapro! Rafael, Tommy, Susie, and her brother BJ joined us for the festivities. We all had a great time and I'll be posting some of the pics in a Thanksgiving Day gallery.

It was such a success that Iris invited everyone over for Noche Buena, which is when Cuban's celebrate Christmas Eve. It's bigger than Christmas for us. That's when the cuban food comes out and we roast the pig :) That should be very fun too. It will also be the last get together with my family before I move out to Los Angeles. Tommy asked me if I was going to miss it, and honestly I'm going to miss it a whole lot. I'm reaching that age of 30 when you start reconnecting with your family. I hope to be down in Miami for lots of visits. I think my job is flexible enough in that I will be able to work from Miami once a week every other month :)

Nintendo DSI went to go buy the Nintendo DS at Best Buy the other day while I was working at my parents house. It was quite a day. I did get the nintendo DS which is amazing, I'm so glad I bought it before the Thanksgiving holiday, I hear that all the stores have none in stock. When I went to get it I saw Roly. I didn't know what I was going to say, but I think I was less nervous than he was. He told me the usual and I told him that I really wanted to talk to him. Frank had given him the email I sent him detailing how I really missed having him as a friend. He told me he would call me after Black Friday but he never did.

Instead I called him on Thanksgiving day. We had a long time and it felt like old times. But I never know with him if he's going to keep up the friendship or drop it. He explained that the reason that we lost touch was because we had an arguement one day and I blew up at him. I honestly don't remember the arguement but to me it doesn't sound right that you don't talk to someone for this long of a period. Whatever the reasons I do hope that we are able to bridge our friendship. It is the oldest friendship that I have and it would be awful to not have it.

Luis is the only friend now that is still estranged. I honestly don't know why he stopped talking for such a long period of time. I honestly didn't think he was going to be this flaky of a friend. I knew that he ignored Billy completly since Gainesville but I somehow thought I was a stronger friend. I guess I was wrong. I feel betrayed when I think about all the things that I suffered through to keep his friendship. I really will never understand it until I have the chance to talk to him about it. But I think that might not happen anytime soon. Whenever I tried calling him or emailing him he never returns my queries. Very strange.

This weekend was very eventful indeed. Instead of working as hard as I wanted to on school I spent a whole day hanging out with Susie and Rafael. We decided to go to Cupid's because Kevin was going to join us. Kevin had to cancel at the last minute so it was me, Susie, Rafael, and Tommy. I knew there was going to be drama with Rafael but whatever!

Susie really like the club. She was a bit shy but I know she liked it. The same hot strippers were there and there were two that I hadn't seen before. It didn't take more than 30 minutes for Rafael to act irrational and want to go home. Since we all came in my car he took a cab all the way back to the beach. He says it was because he was bored and he felt seedy but the truth is, it's because he was with Tommy. If he was there alone he would have been fine. I'll never fully understand why he gets like that but it definatley takes away from the good time that we all had!

When Rafael and Tommy left we ran into two friends of mine. They went to high school with Brandi and live down in Miami. They are very nice and we spent the rest of the night together. Hopefully they will be coming to my going away party. We also saw Dan from The Real World Miami at Cupid's. The gay one. He looked a bit goofy but he looked like he was having a good time :)

I'm a little nervous about my party because I hope everything is planned out and people have fun. I don't want it to be awkward and boring. I have my fingers crossed. This is my going away party so I want drunk people and drama. We will be going to Twist or Cupid's after, although I think it will be Twist. Dunno yet. It's slated for December 18th, so if you wanna come and Rafael hasn't called you, call or email me :)

Hedwig and the Angry InchLast night Alina and Frank came over. It was the first time Frank saw my place. They were at Lincoln Road having dinner so they came over later to have desert and some coffee. After showing Frank the place we settled down and watched Hedwig and the Angry Inch. It's one of my favorite movies. I know Alina liked it a lot but I'm not sure Frank was into it. If you haven't seen the movie check it out, it's even better if you can check it out live in a theatre. It is too much fun. Way better than Rent if you ask me :)

That's it for now. I'll be leaving for Los Angeles on Friday so I should have a place to stay soon!!! Wish me luck.

Alina and Weasel

Here are some pics that I took of Alina and Weasel. Two of the pics were taken during Saturday while we were walking the shops on Washington Avenue. The other picture was taken at Alina's place. I took a picture of Alina and Weasel, her cat, so that she can post it on my message boards. Enjoy! I'll have a nice long blog entry tomorrow.

RENT and Cupids

RENTI went to see Rent the musical Friday night. I was so excited to go because I had never been before. It was very last minute that Rafael told me they were playing it in Broward. I was amazed at the seats that we got. I think someone must have cancelled at the last minute because we were in the Orchestra area.

The play itself was alright. The singing was awesome but I like plays more like Phantom of the Opera and Miss Saigon. They have special effects and are more engaging. It wasn't that I hated the play, I just thought it was going to be so much better because of how famous it is. There were people in the audience who were singing along and applauding at certain parts. I guess they've seen it a couple of times. I'm definately glad I went to see it though. I really, really want to see The Producers. I hear that one is amazing!

Friday night Alina stayed with me through Saturday. We had such a fun time. We went to Cupids which is always fun. At first Alina was shy but then she warmed up to the strippers (and boy did she warm up). There were two or three strippers who had the biggest dicks we had ever seen. They were huge!!! We are definately going back. I had free passes so we didn't have to pay cover. At about 2:00AM we decided to hit Twist. It was packed as usual and we checked out the stripper bar and then headed for the dance floor. Alina was groped everywhere and we didn't stay too long in the dance floor. Dirty things happen in there :)

The next day we chilled and had some lunch on Lincoln and went through all the stores on Lincoln Road and Washington Avenue. Later that day Arlet and her sister came over and I helped them with the website that they want to start. We had some dinner from Friday's and we saw Along Came Poly. It was funny and cute. I thought I was totally going to hate it. Arlet and Vivian want to go to Cupid's so we might go in a big group next Friday. Hope it all works out! I love that place. I don't think there is a place like that in Los Angeles! I have to enjoy the Dirty South while I can.

I also dropped one of my classes. It feels like I'll never finish my Master's Program. But with my work, school, and relocating all this month it's going to be rough. I rather save myself the headache now and earn a good grade later than suffer the consequences. Plus my teacher was a complete dick. I also checked out the Haunted Mansion which was really bad, I didn't have too many expectations, but even with that it was terrible.

I also saw Adored, Diary of a porn star. To quote rottentomatoes.com one review described the movie plot as, "Federico who moves in with Riki ... only to realize that his brother’s butt has had more visitors than the Catholic Church on Easter Sunday." They pretty much ripped on the movie but I thought it had some potential. It was at least entertaining. It was nothing like Luster which was embarassing to watch. Let me know what you guys think if you see it.

If only all my weekends were as action-packed as this one! How we miss the city that we live in when we are about to move to a different location! It's crazy.

SoBe Apt. 4 Rent

My landlord told me that if I found someone to lease my apartment that she would not hold me countable for breaking the lease. That's a savings of 2k big ones! She'd also return my security deposit which is $950.00!!! I got all excited because I thought Rafael and Tommy were going to take it over. They weren't able to because it was the apartment was a bit steep for what they were looking for.

Luckily I thought of placing an ad on Craig's List, which is slowly becoming my favorite site. Within minutes I had my first interested party. I received three emails from people who were interested. I showed the place to two possible tenants and one of them wants to call me tomorrow with the landlord to seal the deal! I am ecstatic! Thank you Craig's List :)

I'm definately using Craig's List for my Los Angeles apartment hunt which goes down in two weeks! Wish me luck. I included the photos that I took of my apartment that I placed in the original ad. Enjoy :)

Saily Del Rio

Baby

Until recently I never knew the name of my sister. My mother had her three years before I was born. She never made it to her first birthday because she was born late. When she was born she was almost completly black because she had been choking on fluid. They revived her a couple of times but she never saw her first birthday. It's strange for me to picture a sister. I've always been an only child and I only discovered that I had had a sister when I was younger and my mom would get depressed around the same time every year. It turned out that it was her birthday. I never approached the subject again until recently, when I asked my mother what her name was.

When I wrote the name down it was so powerful for me. It's such a beautiful name. I have to thank my mother for being creative with our names. I love the name that I was given and thank her for not giving me a common name. I feel completly special because of that. Of course I have had my share of name calling in grade school, but who hasn't :)

I sometimes wonder how events would have unfolded had she made it through. Would I have been born? Would we have immigrated to the United States? So many questions. Even though I never knew her it felt good talking to mom about it. Her eyes still get teary eyed when she mentions her so we don't talk on it for too long. I'm glad that I was able to get her name.

Moving on to my favorite hobbie of movie watching I saw a couple of movies recently. I saw Saw with Rafael and Tommy. Rafael was scared shitless and wanted to watch something else instead. I convinced them to see it and we all liked it. It started out like a regular horror movie and I thought I wasn't going to like it too much. However things took a better turn and the plot twists sure made the movie interesting. There are some very gross parts but the movie wasn't as scary as I originally thought. It was well though out though.

Alina recommened that I rent Donnie Darko. I checked it out and at first I was upset because I felt the movie didn't make sense. Alina explained a couple of questions that I had and I have to admit the movie was very well thought out. The reason I didn't like the movie is because it is built on the belief that all our actions are predetermined, and that just doesn't flow with me. If it wasn't for that small thing I would have been all over it. The acting was great, and it gave me lots to think about. Very deep movie. I have to check out the director's cut.

I also rented Winged Migration. I wnated to see this when it was in the theatres but no one would come with me. After all who's going to see a french documentary on migrating birds? The DVD was enjoyable in it's shear beauty. The animals were amazing. Equally amazing was the special features part of the DVD which showed how they made the movie. They actually trained baby geese and pelicans to incorporate them as part of their flock. It was very interesting. The sights are unbelievable. And of course when I saw the desert scenes out in California and Arizona I thought of my trip!

I can't wait. It's getting so close. I can almost feel it. Jim and Joe are throwing a nice little/big party where I will meet lots of people. Hopefully I'll make a lot of friends on this trip and oh yeah find a place to live! That's always important. I put the deposit on the movers so now it's serious :) When I come back from my trip in early December I have to start packing my stuff! I'm very excited about the road trip. I'll be taking pictures along the whole way.

Message Board Up and Pigs Flying!

When Pigs FlyI went to go see a great play Saturday night with Rafael. At first I thought I was going to miss it because I completly forgot everything about it. I was at my parents house helping my dad sort out the new satelite dish and receiver he bought. I ran back home just in time to shower and head to the Broward Center for the Performing Arts to catch When Pigs Fly at the Amaturo Theatre. It was nice to see the old hood again :) I'm still glad that I moved to Miami Beach though.

At first the play started a little slow. I was wondering what mess Rafael got me into. The stage was stripped down so that the focus of the show was the actors and the costumes. The costumes were so much fun and they were so creative. The show was a gay revue of original musical numbers. It was hilarious. By the end of the show I was really glad that I went. It was definately something fun to do on a Saturday night instead of going out, since Rafael cannot go out now if Tommy is not around.

Finally instead of finishing up my projects today I cleaned up my apartment and installed message boards on my site! It replaces the guestbook and you can reach it by clicking the guestbook button on the left navigator section. You can also click here to reach it directly. Registration is free and you can make your own avatar. If you want to leave a message in the guestbook you do not have to register. It is a bit overwhelming at first but once you catch on it's easy. Vivian and Alina have been helping me start all kinds of topics and polls on it. Give it whirl and let me know what you think! you can still reach the old message boards by going here, in case you wanted to see the old entries.

Bush: Four More Years, very Scary!

BushSadly we have Bush for four more years. I had such a hope that Kerry would win, but alas it was not meant to be. I have no idea what people see in Bush. The only thing I can attribute to the loss is that Kerry was a very weak and bland candidate. I wasn't too fond of Kerry, but anything is better than Bush! Anything! I was always about Howard Dean, but ever since he went crazy and started shouting he lost the primaries. Very sad indeed.

It's even worse that my home state of Florida was taken by Bush. It's no surprise since Florida usually swings Republican, but at least there is hope because my new adopted state of California was all for Kerry! Actually the whole West Coast Kerry won. I've always known I belonged on the West Coast.

After coming back from my trip I really appreciated the warmth of Miami. I can definately tell that we are in season right now. There are so many hot guys walking around everywhere. The summer was kind of slow, but now everything has picked up. I don't know if LA is going to be anything like Miami, but in South Beach the sex is in the air. It's impossible to resist. Since I got back I've been hooking up twice a day! Crazy I know. I have to calm down and take it slow. Of course I'm only in South Beach for a limited time!

Kerry Even when I went out to vote yesterday there was hot men everywhere. I had a really hot guy behind me the whole time. He looked cuter with his glasses on, but he had a great body. His t-shirt read "Made for Pleasure" and I bought into the hype. It definately made the thirty minute wait to vote worth my while. I think we were both checking each other out because he kept smiling. I need to get over my shyness because I never make the first move and say anything. I always sit there and wait to be pounced on :)

Jim sent me so many cool pictures from Halloween in West Hollywood. They have a huge bash every year there and the pictures looked great. With his permission I am posting a couple of pictures. The costumes were creative and the guys were hot. This definately gets me psyched to move out to Los Angeles. I have an apartment complex that I want to move into called Mediterranean Village. It's in the heart of West Hollywood and it's very close to work. I called to be put on the waiting list. If I get a roommate I'll be paying the same amount of rent that I do now. The one-bedrooms are a bit more expensive :) The best part is that they allow pets up to 50lbs. If my roommate doesn't have any pets I might get a cat or another dog to keep Lola company since I'll be working outside the house.

Here are the pictures for West Hollywood Halloween. I hope you enjoy them! Thanks again Jim for the awesome pics! I'll definately be there next year.
