Ciao, Miami

Here I am sitting at the airport. My flight is delayed because the flight is grounded in Boston because of a mechanical failure. That sounds very scary, but I'm still optimistic about going back home! It was great seeing everyone in Miami but I'm ready to go back to my new home Los Angeles! It was so freaking hot and humid here.

I spent most of the week at my parents house working and watching movies. I watched a ton of movies. I went to the Casino with my parents twice, once when I got here and the last time right before hitting the airport. I spent a night with Luis driving around Broward. He is looking to buy a place and wanted to take a look at the building.

I definately think next time that I come I will come for a little bit longer time and I will try to book a room either in South Beach or Key West. It was weird to me when I drove around South Beach that I didn't feel the list bit nostalgic. I didn't miss it. I thought I would but nothing came. It looked dirty and small. It was overcroweded with Junior and Senior High kids on their Spring Break, so that could have added to the ghetto feel that I experienced!

There was still lots of hot boys though! Miami never dissapoints there! I also ate like a pig while I was here. Like everyone I know I will be starting a diet and exercise program. It's been a couple of months now since I go to any gym. I got my gym membership in LA before leaving for Miami and now I intend on using it. Starting Monday I'm waking up at 6:00AM and hitting the gym before work. It's rough but it's more realistic than me going to the gym after work. That rarely if ever will happen!

I think by August I'll loose a couple of inches off my waist and will feel good to show up at my high school reunion. I wonder how many of my classmates will go? I know Arlet, Susie, and Luis are going, even if they say they aren't.

While I was here I also hooked up my dad with his own phone blog. I think I mentioned it already but it deserves mention. The link is www.renedelrio.com. He's actually taking pictures and editing his own blog entries! He's learning a ton!

I have so many packages to expect when I get back to Los Angeles. My new Mini Mac should be there already! I also ordered a couple of accessories for my cell phone and some furniture from Target! My roommate also got some slip covers so I'll be busy tonight and Sunday getting those assembled!

My plane has not left yet from Boston. It's going to be a very long night here!

Mac Attack and High School Reunion

Mini MacI never thought this would happen but I am slowly becoming an Apple addict. It started first with the iPod and now it's blossoming with the Mini Mac. The circle will complete itself when I buy a PowerBook Laptop. Then there will be no going back! Ever!

So it started harmless enough with the iPod. I thought it was great when I bought it a year ago and I think it's still amazing today. I was very impressed with the product that Apple made. I also love iTunes. I love it so much that I buy more music than I download, and that was rare for me before!

Mini MacWhen I heard that the Mini Mac was coming out I was very interested. What drew me most was OS X. It's so sleek and powerful. The best part is that it's built on Linux which is what I use mostly at work. Having a powerful operating system based on Linux that looked that good was too hard to pass.

The price and the size of the mini really sold it for me. When I get it, if I fall in love like I plan too, then it will be no time before I get the Powerbook laptop. The laptop looks very stunning and it has some great features. The keyboard lights up in the dark, and it's super thin. Also the wireless and bluetooth are already integrated. So it's a matter of time really that I say goodbye to PC's and say hello to Mac's:)

This is completly unrelated but it's good. I finally found a good site like netflix.com but for adult gay DVD's. I tried a similar service before but it was really bad and they had some really old movies. This new site has a lot of new movies. The site is called Deliver Male. I also got a really good DVD burning program so I'm making copies for myself of all the movies :) It's working out quite good!

Mini MacLastly my 10 year High School Reunion is coming up. I can't freaking believe that it's been 10 years! I know everyone says that! Everyone is all nervous about it and is making a mad dash for the diet line. I guess I have to join the band wagon. When I think about how much weight I gained since I was in South Beach its very discouraging. But if I did it once I can definately do it again!!! I just have to be very strict with myself! It just so happens that I want to start these crazy diets while I'm on vacation. Is that wrong or what!

Visiting Miami

Parents and me at Hoover Dam

I'm visiting Miami this week. I came into town Saturday morning. I left Los Angeles Friday night at 10:30pm. I can't complain because I had a really hot french guy sitting next to me the whole time. The only thing I will complain about is how small the seats are on Song. Sure the seats are leather, and sure you get Satellite Television, but the seats are cramped as shit! I couldn't get any sleep. It was very frustrating. But at least I got to watch Lemony Snicket's A Series Unfortunate Events. The movie was cute and I'm sure I would have liked it more if I hadn't been incredibly tired and cranky. It was a little slow for someone who had had no sleep and was in a very tight airplane. Did I mention the plane was tight? Did I mention it was Spring Break and the plane was booked? Did I mention the hot french guy next to me? Ok let's move on now.

As soon as I got to Miami I took a very long nap. I woke up at like 5:00pm and I was still dazed and confused. We all decided to hit the Hard Rock Casino. It was alright but since no one was winning anything, everyone was so over it. Everyone except my mom that is. She's hooked on gambling more than she's hooked in cigarettes. And that is very very hooked, in case you were wondering. I managed to pull them away long enough to have lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe. They liked it but my father swears that Friday's food is way better. It doesn't matter what restaurant I take them to, with the exception of Nexxxt Cafe in South Beach. They love, love that place!

Sunday I spent all indoors. I should have gone out but I was feeling very lazy and still jet lagged (I know it's only like 3 hours of difference, but it meant a lot to me). I spent the day fixing up my dad's website. Instead of his old website I hooked him up with a blog at blogger.com of course. Since I know he'll never write in it, I hooked it up with flickr.com. Flickr allows you to send pictures form your camera phone (or email) to a certain email address. That email address is routed to Flickr where it is then posted to your blog. This is called a moblog for mobile blog. He loved the idea and now his site is a blog! Check it out at www.renedelrio.com. Let's see what kind of pics he comes up with!

Since I'll be at home this week I'll start writing all those journal entries that I missed since I've moved to LA. I've written all the major points down in my Treo 650 so I'll be sure to mention them all here!

I've also finally posted the pictures from my Cross Country trip! There are two galleries and you can see them by clicking on them below:

It's been a long time!

It's already March and I've been neglecting my blog! I am happy to report that things are stabilizing and I will start cracking at my journal entries this weekend. It's been crazy getting moved in, adjusting to work, and getting a new roommate, and juggling school. I finally feel like I have a grip on things!

I have to say I'm loving, loving, Los Angeles. It's such a great place to be and I can't believe that I didn't move out here sooner. The scenery is so amazing and the people are a lot nicer than the East Coast. You have a big city feel, real big, but yet there is so much nature to enjoy within the city. There is Runyon Canyon, which is the nicest park that I've been too. It goes on for miles and its a huge dog park. There are a lot of dogs and cute boys all around! I'll defiantely be taking pictures when I go next.

I've been neglecting my camera so much. There are so many opportunties to take pictures and I always forget the camera or am too lazy to snap the pictures. I've already had Kevin come visit from Oregon and I hope to have more people coming soon. There is a circuit that I have done for Kevin, my parents, and my cousins. I didn't get to show Kevin everything because of the rain and the short amount of time that he's been here but basically its:

  1. Hollywood and Highland (Chinese Theatre/Red Carpet)

  2. Hollywood Sign

  3. Mulholland Drive

  4. Santa Monica Pier

  5. Venice Beach

  6. Getty Center (My favorite Museum so far)

  7. West Hollywood (my hood!)

  8. Farmer's Market/ The Grove

  9. ArcLight Cinemas

I'll be adding to this list as I learn about more places. This weekend I hope to process all of my cross country trip pictures so that I can post them in galleries. As soon as I create those galleries I'll post links here. I'll also fill in everyone on all the fun I've been having since I've been in my favorite new city :)

"I have quite a collection of journals. It's not so much that I write a lot. I have this bad habit of starting a new journal when I start a new chapter in life. Either I have had many turning points in my life, or I just wanted an excuse to buy new journals!"
