Jurassic Park River Ride (Universal Hollywood)
Here's another funny picture of Luis and I. This time we are at the Jurassic River Ride @ Universal Studios Hollywood. We're definately using up that annual pass like you would not believe. We've almost ridden everything. I think the last thing that we need to ride is the Mummy. Luis is scared shitless because it's a psychological thrill-ride/rollercoaster. I think next time we go he'll ride it. In the meantime enjoy the photo of us freaking out! Click on the picture to see it full-size.

Quinceañera and other Great Movies
Luis and I went to go see Quinceañera Saturday night. It was awesome. I definately recommend it. The movie was so original and heart-warming that it made my cry. I usually don't do that! So many emotions were running through my head when I saw this movie. I was appreciating Los Angeles, because the movie takes place there. I was missing my parents because of the latino family aspect. Lastly I want to have my own home to entertain friends. I have included a youTube embedded video file of some movies that you should definately check out!
Speaking of owning my own house, Luis and I want to start flipping houses for a profit. I am utilizing this time in between jobs to get my realtor's license. I don't know if I want to do it full-time, but I'd definately like to use the license when we buy homes to flip. Since we have no experience whatsoever in flipping houses, other than watching HGTV shows, we decided to purchase a home and improve it to flip it in a couple of years. It's a very exciting prospect but since I don't want to pay much more than I am for rent, we definately won't be in WeHo! It's a sacrifice but at least we'll have our own home. We'll have a yard for Lola, and we'll also get tons of experience in home improvements!
I think one of the first few things that I want to do is put in a jacuzzi tub in my room :) I've always wanted that since the days in Ft. Lauderdale when I had a tub. it was amazing. Today Luis and I looked at a couple of properties in North Hollywood. The houses were huge, but the neighborhood was less than ideal. It was very latino suburban. It reminded me a lot of Hialeah. Of course it might look a lot better during the day. We'll see tomorrow :)
We did see one house in Silverlake. It was so exciting because it was right in the gay area. However it was the scariest looking house in all the block. Such a shame too because it was walking distance to most of the gay establishments in Silverlake! Oh well, we'll keep looking! After looking at the houses we went to the ArcLight to check out Little Miss Sunshine. It was such an adorable movie. It was about a family going to Los Angeles to compete in a beauty pageant for the little girl in the family. It was a nice comedy with a really good message. I'm so glad that I went to go see it! It's amazing that we saw two good movies back-to-back. Sometime this week I should check out the ShadowBoxer. That's the last of the independant movies that I want to check out this week. Hopefully it will be good!!
We're off to Universal Studios again tomorrrow! More rides! Hopefully this time I won't loose my wallet.

Universal Studios (Where Wallets are lost...and found)
Well Luis and I officially did our first visit to Universal Studios Hollywood. It is literally about 9.5 miles away from my house! We purchased annual passes at Costco which were an amazing bargain. For the price of one regular annual pass, we received two! We decided to go on a Monday since we figured it would be less full. I had thought the kids would be back at school already but I guess they don't go back until late August. So it was a bit full but the wait times were not that bad.
We rode Terminator 2 and the Studio Tour. It's neat because the Studio Tour combines the back lot tour (including Wysteria Lane!), Jaws, Earthquake, and King Kong! It also had a special effects show of Tokyo Drift and a mexican village that floods. While the ride was fun this is where I lost my wallet. Right before I realized I lost my wallet, we rode Van Helsing's ride. It was a walk-though haunted house. It was scary as shit because they had live actors. I was scared shitless but I was also laughing my ass off because Luis was scared shitless. He almost ran over the asian family in front of us trying to leave. An actor came behind him and whispered in his ear. It was hilarious, but don't be fooled. I was scared shitless.
Of course I didn't know it yet. We decided to leave the park and go to CityWalk to eat lunch and watch a movie. When I went to pay, I panicked. My wallet was missing. It's the worst feeling in the world. After I calmed down some and Luis helped me call the bank and my major credit card, I felt a little better. I filled out a lost report with Universal and we ate lunch and saw the movie, Zoom. The movie sucked by the way! I didn't think it was going to be a kids movie. Luis was cracking up because he knew it was a kids movie.
We went home shortly after that and I didn't think they would find my wallet. That night they called but I missed their call. The next day I go over and they had found my wallet at the Studio Tour! It even had all my cash in it! Universal Rocks! While we didn't get to ride everything, we are definately going back next week. In the meantime enjoy the pictures that Luis and I took in the Universal Studios Hollywood 2006 gallery.
I'm all over YouTube now. It's a great way to share videos with friends and it lets you upload short videos and post them on your blog without taking up space on your server! It rocks. Look for more videos coming soon to the blog. Right now you can see the Jaws video where I Scream like a girly-girl and the San Francisco Pride video of the Radical Faeries tent. More to come!

OutFest 2006 Highlights
I just attended my first OutFest Film Festival. OutFest is Los Angeles's Gay and Lesbian Film Festival. This year it took place July 6th through the 17th. I made a donation to OutFest so they gave me two OutPasses to check out all the movies. I was a little too ambitious in trying to see every movie. I think Luis was over it after his six movie! There were some amazing movies that I've highlighted here. I can't wait for next year! While all the movies that I saw were good, the following are my four favorites.
20 Centimeters was the closing movie of the festival. It was an incredible movie from Spain. I have to say that all the foreign movies that I have seen lately from Spain have been awesome. This one was about a narcoleptic trannie. Whenever she fell into one of her sleep spells a musical number was performed. My favorite number was the one performed to Madonna's True Blue. The boyfriend in the movie is very hot. Very hot! And you get to see full frontal too!
Reinas was from Spain too. It reminded me a lot of the Almodovar movies except with no trannies or drugs. Best of all the movie is being released by Warner Brothers! This movie was hilarious and watching it at the Ford Amphitheatre was great. It was the second movie that I saw there. The first was the sing-a-long which was West Side Story. I had never seen it before and I probably would never have seen it if it wasn't for it showing as the sing-a-long and that it was free! The most frustrating about these movies is that I want to buy them instantly. And most of them haven't even come out to the theatre yet!
Odete (The Two Drifters) was one of the first movies that I saw. I was already a big fan of the directory because he made O Fantasma. I have to say as highly sexually charged as O Fantasma was, Odete was way better. The story made more sense and it was great! The guy was super hot and the story was bizzare. It's everything you expect from the director, João Pedro Rodrigues! Definately check it out if it is playing in your theatre.
Everyone was anticipating Another Gay Movie! It was definately great. It was so funny to see a parody on American Pie that was all gay! The actors were great and some of them were very, very hot! The film had so many cameos from gay stars. It was incredible. The movie also had me laughing for hours afterwards. Luis and I really liked this one. The highlight was that the cast was there for a Q&A session. The director, Todd Stephens, was the same guy who did Edge of Seventeen. I recently rented Gypsy 83 from NetFlix, which was the movie he made between these two movies, but it sucked! Real bad. I gave it one star because you can never give a gay movie zero stars. It's wrong!
That's it for now! I really like this getting back to my blog thing. It's great. I'm definately going to try to write an entry every day. Especially now that I am unemployed!
P.S. I hope I win the lottery so I can do this for a living.

Tower of Terror (California Adventure Style)
Here is a funny picture that was taken while Mariano, Rafael, Luis and I went to Disney's California Adventure. I've ridden the Tower of Terror before in Orlando but it always startles me :) Who looks more scared me or Luis?

Summer Heat Wave (Too Hot to Work)
This has definately been an interesting summer. I always wanted to take the summer off and explore Los Angeles. I got my wish, I guess. About three weeks ago 411web laid me off! This is my second job to lay me off! I think I'm starting to see a trend here. I have to admit that I didn't freak out like I did when I first lost my job in South Beach. This time around I actually had some money saved up, and 411web was nice enough to give me some severence.
Instead of looking for work right away I decided to enjoy the rest of summer and begin looking for work during September. It's always nerve-racking to change jobs. I was so used to the ebb and flow of 411web. It's hard to let go of that and start over. I hate interviewing. Tech interviews are the worst. They grill you big time! I'm going to have to read my Perl textbooks to brush up on my skills before I go for some jobs that I like.
Don't feel too bad for me though. I've been having way too much fun this summer. Luis was here for the summer only. He was going to return to Miami after August. He fell in love with Los Angeles and now he's staying for good!! About a week before I lost my job, he lost his job too! We are definately living the Los Angeles dream! Nobody works here, and we are proof! In subsequent entries I'll talk about all our adventures: we've gone to Long Beach Pride, San Francisco Pride, West Hollywood Pride, and most recently we went to Las Vegas.
It was hot as hell in Los Angeles so what better place to go than Las Vegas where it's even hotter! It was about 115 degrees! But it's a dry heat! We stayed at the Monte Carlo. It was right on the strip and since we didn't have to work we went Tuesday through Friday. The rate was awesome! The room was really nice too. We spent a whole day at two of the four pools that they have. The rest of the time we spent gambling, eating, and gambling. We did go to a movie: My Super Ex-Girlfriend. It sucked. I don't even want to waste time talking about it.
But what was hilarious was that Luis's shorts ripped at the theater. I could not stop laughing. He had this crazy look on his face when he realized he had to walk across six lanes of traffic to get back to our hotel room. I almost busted my gut! It was too good. I had dreams of winning big, but alas Vegas doesn't let you leave with too much money. We did have a great time though. I can't wait to go back!!
