Chicas are 4ever Weekend [Return to the Blog]
Luis and I went to go check out Chico's Angels 4: Chicas are 4ever at the Cavern Club Theater. It's one of our favorite play series of plays and this was a new one! We were very excited. I also got to meet a whole bunch of Luis' friends. I met: Ivette, Nestor, and Norma. They were great fun! It's always nice hanging out with fellow latinos! Before the show we had dinner at the mexican restaurant above: Casita Del Campo. My friend Heidee also joined us! We had a very good time! This one was cute but I have to say that the best one by far was Part 3. This time around they did their own music instead of doing parodies and it didn't work out!
One of my favorite scenes though was at the stripper bar with the stripping puppet. You have to see it! It was hilarious. As Luis always says, "You know You Like it Funny". After the play we all went back to my house and hung out for a while. It was so much fun!
During that same weekend, Luis and I caught two movies. We saw IronMan at the ArcLight Hollywood and we saw Baby Momma at the Grove. I have to say that I really enjoyed watching Iron Man. I went into it skeptical. I usually hate the cheezy comic book turned to movies. This one was different though. The story was engaging, the special effects were amazing, and the writing was superb. I mean there were times where it was cheezy and things didn't make sense but it was overall a very good movie! I loved that they used witty humor instead of the usual one-liners. It definately was a movie worth watching. I enjoyed this one as much as I enjoyed Batman Begins with Christian Bale (I love you). The cast for Iron Man was very good. Paltrow and Robert Downing Junior were very good together. Who knew!!
I liked Baby Momma. Luis didn't like it so much! I think most of America hated it. I love everything Tina Faye does! Although I do have to say that Amy Poeller stole the movie! Her scenes were very funny. I also loved Sigourney Weaver. Her character was too funny!! I loved it. It could have been a little funnier and the ending was total crap. It looked like they changed the ending during one of those audience polls to better suit stupid America. It was dumb! At least we still have 30 Rock!
We also tried Jinky's. It's a little Cafe really close to my house that I've been wanting to go to forever! They do brunch and that's what we did. The food was good but it was a little pricey. I think we are jaded because we were expecting something like the Griddle Cafe. If you've never been and you are in Hollywood, you have to go check it out! There is always a big line outside, but it's worth the wait trust me!!!
