I just picked up Professor Layton and the Curious Village. I've been wanting it for a while and I finally went to Best Buy to pick it up during lunch break Tuesday. It's amazing! I love puzzle and brain-teaser games and this one comes through full-force. It reminds me of an old series of PC games that I used to play called Smart Games. I think that's what it was called.

Professor Layton has the cutest graphics and it's not just straight puzzle solving. It plays like a point-and-click adventure game too! It's funny how the DS has been coming out with amazing games recently! I just can't get enough. These are some of the games that I've played recently that are amazing!

Rafael and I reconnected this weekend. It was nice to get things back to the way they were. Our relationship was strained over the last couple of months and I'm glad that we are able to reconnect again. We had brunch at Eat Well. It's a great place for breakfast! The food is great, kinda healthy, and it's gay gay gay! What more could you ask for.

After talking up a storm we decided to go check out his new apartment. Hopefully now that Rafael is living West Hollywood adjacent, we'll be spending more time together. We used to do so many things together, but when he moved away that proved to be dificult! He didn't quite know what part of town he was in and it turned out to be one of the best neighborhoods in LA! Rafael managed to get himself a studio in the Miracle Mile area! He is actually less than a block away from the LACMA west building! We couldn't believe it. We checked out his apartment, which was very cute, and then we walked over to Wilshire Blvd.

Rafael told me he checked out the new addition to LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art) the BCAM (Broad Contemporary Art Museum). I'm a member and a huge supporter of the museum, but I hadn't had a chance to see it. Since I get free tickets whenever I want to go to the museum for being a member, so we decided to stop in real quick. It was amazing!

The actual building is amazing! Once you get over how beautiful it is, the exhibits are truly magnificent. While I do love Classical Paintings and sculpture, there is something about Contemporary Art that is really exciting. It's totally off-the-wall and amazing. My favorite artist on exhibit was the work of Jeff Koons. His work is amazing. He takes ordinary day things and makes them larger than life in materials that seem to betray their own properties! For example the balloon animal is made out of stainless steel!! Yet it looks so fragile!!! Amazing. If you are in LA you definately have to check this exhibit out!

I recently joined the Great OutDoors LA or GO for short. The group is a gay and lesbian outdoors/hiking group. I joined the group in December but haven't done any event since it's been freezing in LA! Spring weather is finally coming through so I'm looking forward to their events! They do two weekly hikes, a low-impact one and an advanced one. They also do a volleyball game on Sundays. I have to check those out.

Every month they do a camping weekend trip and then they do a outdoors event. I went to the outdoors event this month which was an Art Deco Walk in downtown Los Angeles held by the LA Conservancy. Jim and a friend from work, Janice, joined me. The tour had about 15-20 people and it was great! We even got to go up to the penthouse apartment on one of the historic buildings! It was great.

Heidi and I went to see the Color Purple at the Ahmanson Theatre in downtown LA tonight. The Ahmanson is one of my favorite theatres in Los Angeles, and unlike the Pantages, it actually has a whole season. I think the Pantages has been showing Wicked for the last three years or so! Heidi is my new theatre buddy. We always get our tickets through GoldStar Events. They always have tickets to shows for usually half of what you would pay going through ticketmaster. They sometimes have free events too! It's great! We already purchased our Sweeny Todd tickets through them!

Our adventure started after work. It was freezing and rainy in Los Angeles. I had the bright idea of taking the metro from my work to downtown. We running kind of late. We reached the Metro stop in North Hollywood and were sitting in our seats when some crazy lady was crying non-stop and acting like a hot mess. Heidi wanted to move to the next car so we did. There was a group of three people who were laughing at us because they had the same idea before we did! I knew which stop to get off at for the Ahmanson, but I didn't know where to go from there!

We landed in downtown and made a mad dash for the Music Center. Did I mention it was cold? And raining? We got there in the nick of time. Curtain call was in five minutes and we were in the will call line! I was sweating from running uphill, freezing from the weather, and wet from sweat and rain! We took our seats to enjoy the show....oh yeah since we were running late we didn't have time for dinner...so we were both starving!

I didn't know how they were going to make the Color Purple a musical. At first I was skeptical but it works. They took lots of creatve license from the movie and book, but it was very enjoyable. At first I didn't think I was going to like it but it definately has some great scenes! I have a feeling I'll like Sweeny Todd better, simply because of the subject matter, but this was way better than....CATS! I hate CATS! Never go see it. Trust me on this one!!
